District II Member Wins Ed Izzo Award

On Saturday August 30, 2014, AMA Vice President for District II, Eric Williams and AMA Executive Director, Dave Mathewson presented Bob Rowe the Ed Izzo Annual Memorial Flight Training Award. The award is in recognition of excellence by a group or individual in training new model aviators. Ed Izzo was a noted modeler and 1995 inductee in the AMA Hall of Fame. Ed successfully competed in everything from free flight to control line and radio control. Among Ed's inventions are the all aluminum racing shell, and developing the foam wing construction technique in 1964. In remembrance of Ed Izzo's achievements, Walt's Hobby founder Walt Throne initiated the Ed Izzo award in 1995. Bob has trained new modelers for 30 plus years. He is very deserving of this is achievement.
