The WRAM Show is Almost Here!

January 22, 2015

The WRAM Show, the biggest  hobby trade show on the East Coast, is the annual R/C show held by the Westchester Radio Aero Modelers, celebrating it's 47th anniversary this year. In addition to exhibits by some 150 manufacturers and organizations, the show is a magnet for modelers, hobbyists and builders, many of which compete for prizes in static competition.  Returning this year will be the AMA Mobile Simulator Expedience Education Trailer, a popular attraction at last year's event.

Modelers (and exhibitors) from all over the country attend the show, a showcase for all the latest in kits, engines, motors, radio systems, plans, accessories, and other hardware. Another big attraction of the show is the Swap Shop, in which modelers bring their spare equipment and offer it for sale. Hundreds of items change hands.

Seminars for beginners and advanced modelers were introduced at the show in 1996 and have proved enormously popular. One earlier program, which continues, is a free building program for boys and girls, aged 8-12, in which a rubber band-powered WRAM Flyer (the great Delta Dart design by Frank Ehling) is provided for completion by each participant.

A popular seminar at the WRAM Show is Saturday's AMA District II Membership Meeting at 2 PM, where members learn about current events in the District. This year AMA President Bob Brown, Executive Vice President Gary Fitch, Vice Presidents Eric Williams (District II) Andy Argenio (Disrict I), Executive Director Dave Mathewson, Government Affairs Director Rich Hanson and Flying Site Assistance Coordinator Tony Stillman are scheduled to attend. One lucky member attending the Membership Meeting at the WRAM Show this year will be the winner of a FUTABA 10J 10 Channel 2.4 GHz. Computer Radio.

At it's new venue since 2012, the Meadowlands Exposition Center at Harmon Meadow, Secaucus, NJ, the WRAM show is normally held on the last full weekend in February, Friday through Sunday. Open at 10 am,  Daily rates are $15.00 per adult,  Children  under 16 are admitted free!
